This beautiful home features an exposed brick lift shaft that seamlessly connects with the home’s internal brickwork, creating continuity and character throughout the space. Rather than seeing plain plaster or metal surfaces while travelling between floors, the exposed brick creates a warm and immersive experience within the lift itself.
Challenges of This Project
While some homeowners with a through-and-through lift cabin choose a simple plastered or black lift shaft finish, these clients chose to make a true statement with theirs. By incorporating exposed brick both internally within the lift shaft and externally throughout the home, they have transformed the lift into a standout architectural feature.
The exposed brick running face creates depth, texture, and character when travelling between floors, while also delivering a bold industrial aesthetic that complements the home beautifully. Combined with the darker tones and lighting, the lift creates a moody and sophisticated atmosphere, making every journey between levels feel like part of the home’s overall design experience.
